SUMMARY: Employee coordinates day-to-day meal planning, preparing and delivery of meals for children and staff in the Child Care Center according to Tribal and State Child Care Regulations, Head Start Performance Standards and the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program Regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervised by the Site Supervisor with review by the Early Childhood Director and Executive Director.
  • Works with the Site Supervisor, Family and Community Partnership/Nutrition Manager, Early Childhood Programs Director and the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma Registered Dietician in planning daily menus according to Head Start Performance Standards and the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • Prepares meals for parent activities, staff meetings, and field trips as directed by the Site Supervisor.
  • Insures all monthly reports are complete and accurate, and turned in by the monthly deadline set by the child Care Coordinator
  • Insures all inventories are kept up-to-date and documented as well as other reports assigned by the Early Childhood Department Director.
  • Is familiar with specified children's/staff's diet restrictions and follows correctly.
  • Works in conjunction with the Family and Community Partnership/Nutrition Manager to insure proper implementation of USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • Services food to children and staff in accordance with established meal service pattern requirements from USDA CACFP.
  • Maintains on a daily basis, the orderliness and cleanliness of assigned work area and is responsible for maintaining other areas, both inside and outside the facility, on a rotating basis as assigned by the Site Supervisor.
  • Encourages habits of safety and cleanliness for children by handling of work properly.
  • Follows Tribal and State Health, Safety and Sanitation requirements.
  • Requisitions needed supplies and equipment through the Site Supervisor while ensuring all request are in compliance with the CACFP guidelines and Early Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Works with Management Team and teaching staff in planning and carrying out all activities in a team approach.
  • Attends all staff meetings as scheduled by the Site Supervisor.
  • Attends all Program In-Service, New Staff and Content Area training as assigned by the Site Supervisor, Child Development Services Manager, Early Childhood Department Director and Executive Director.
  • Meets with the Child Development Services Manager to develop and/or update an individualized education program on an annual basis.
  • Possess the skills necessary to perform pen, pencil and computer tasks. Demonstrates a sufficient proficiency in math and verbal and written communications skills, which are necessary to perform job duties adequately.
  • Must possess valid driver's license and provide proof of insurability.
  • Must never have been convicted of an offense involving child abuse, child neglect, controlled substances or violence towards another individual.
  • Reports all suspected cases of child abuse and/or neglect in accordance with the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma Child Care Policies and Procedures.
  • Be able to stoop, crawl, kneel, and bend in order to be on child's eye level and to lift, carry, and hold children up to 70 pounds.
  • Have an annual tuberculosis test.
  • Applicants must submit to drug testing as a condition of employment.
  • Be trained in Community First Aid and CPR, including infant and toddler First Aid and CPR.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION

Minimum of two (2) years experience in group cooking (ie: child care, school or nursing home)

High school diploma or equivalency.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of one-year satisfactory full-time experience in an Early Childhood or Child Care setting or other quantity food service experience.
